One of the biggest problems encountered by people taking part in group flights is being able to see each other within the simulator. JoinFS provides a free solution for that. It transmits your position to the internet, and allows others running JoinFS to then see you within their simulator too. It works across many of the popular simulators, meaning people can fly together in different simulators, and see each other's aircraft.
Your first step is to download and install JoinFS - there are versions for:
Flight Simulator 2020
Flight Simulator 2024
Flight Simulator X
Prepar3D
X-Plane
Visit the following page, and download the version you require:
When you first launch JoinFS, it will look something like this:
If you have a simulator running already, JoinFS will see it automatically. The various buttons you need to worry about are as follows:
Server (the drop-down box in the middle) - this will appear as "Global" if you press the "Join Global" button
Simulator (bottom left) - will appear green if JoinFS is connected to your simulator
Network (bottom middle) - will appear green if JoinFGS
